Deorro Houston Concert reviews
The one with the bad sound
"Deorro did an amazing job executing the role of Deorro like a perfect thespian. Throughout the show, he posed in statuesque fashion, allowing for constant picture taking by fans from the audience. Always on cue, it was awesome to see an older male rocker take care of his voice. The overall performance was tainted by horrific sound, in my opinion. The first time I experienced bad sound at the Florida theater was unfortunate. Personally, I never thought it possible. The main vocals through the first 4 or 5 songs were hard to hear, as the rhythm guitar sounds from the band encroached. The leads played were either too low or too loud, depending on which guitarist had the role. The backup vocals/guitars had an incredible clean voice & may be the best backup singer for such a heavy band. Unfortunately, the backup vocals on the song "Poison" were unbelievably distorted that night & so low in the mix that the song could have done without them. Theatrically a great performance was brought to a tiny venue, a feat unto itself. They had played a medley of covers, with Deorro doing wonderful Lennon, Morrison impressions. My hope is that they add more original songs to the set & increase the length of the show, making it feel like a special treat or bonus. Deorro always worked with the finest musicians, and some off playing from parts of the band might have been due to the overall mix. It can be difficult to get into it if you can't hear yourself play or you're suddenly too loud. The voice you developed over the years sounding badly distorted as it was overpowered by other instruments was also a concern."
